As we feasted upon sandwiches,
(A melted cheese and totted sort.)
We sat about devoid of our britches,
Passing smirks back and forth.
And although your smile is gentle,
Your smile revealed a thief.
For I spied, fixed betwixt your teeth,
A throbbing piece of my tender heart meat.
And I paused in astonishment of what my unit’s perceived,
And recalled vivid memories your past meatless needs.
Was it that I had been hornswoggled, viciously deceived?
Were you silently threatening, challenging me to scream?
And just as a yelp was nearing release,
My horror did wane, then quickly had ceased.
For your tonguing of the hostage was instead a caress,
And the consumption of this morsel was a lovesome success.
Now relieved from the precipice of a sardonic defeat,
My head fell back in laughter at my nibbled heart meat.
